ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!

I’m so excited about today’s episode. Today we’re talking about what to do when social media feels more draining than life-giving. And for this episode, my sweet friend Marri is hopping back in the host chair to interview me!

I’m excited for this episode because I’ll be the first to admit that my relationship with social media hasn’t always been healthy. For years, the thing that should have left me feeling connected and inspired, instead left me feeling anxious and had me questioning my worth.

A few years ago I realized that if I want to continue to enjoy social media apps, I need to make some big changes and set boundaries, and that’s exactly what I did.

In this conversation, I’ll be sharing what those boundaries are and why it’s so critical that we take responsibility for our digital health. We’ll also talk about how to overcome comparison on social media and learn how much time we’re actually spending on these apps — and what we could be spending our energy on instead!

Friends, this conversation is a heart-to-heart about this thing that takes up so much time and energy in our lives, and I’m so happy we get to talk through this together.

Questions we can be asking ourselves to gauge our digital health:

What am I looking for here? (Entertainment, validation, connection?)

How does this make me feel?

How is this benefitting me? What is this costing me? Is it worth it?

What is your social media personality? Are you an extrovert, an introvert?

Why are you sharing whatever you’re sharing? What’s your motivation behind it?

Social media boundary ideas:

Put your phone on airplane mode while working or when you’re with friends/family

Create before you consume

Put a timer on your phone so you don’t get lost in the scrolling

Take the photo but post it at a later time

Scripture Mentioned:

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.” - Genesis 3:8
