ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Our guest for today’s episode is my new friend, Jen Hatmaker! Now, you guys, I have to tell you, Jen is one of my all-time favorite authors, and so I have absolutely zero chill about her being on the show today. I’m thrilled and honored to have her and I cannot wait for y’all to meet her.

Jen recently released a new book that is speaking to my heart so much these days. It’s called, Fierce, Free and Full of Fire: The Guide to Being Glorious You, and that’s what we’re going to be talking about in this episode. We’re talking about how to uncover who God created us to be, and then how to live life as our true selves — boldly and confidently.

This episode is so good. Jen has so much wisdom to share with us. I was taking notes the whole entire time.

One thing Jen and I talked about that I wanted to make sure to mention is what to do when who we are, or what we believe bumps into the expectations and beliefs of those around us.

We are having some BIG, important conversations in our country right now. And I know that a lot of us have found ourselves having hard conversations with family members, friends, people we know on social media, and at church.

It’s important to have hard conversations, but it becomes tricky and even heartbreaking when you find out that you totally and completely disagree with someone like your dad. Or when you realize that the way your church has always done things just doesn’t line up with something that's really important to you.

What do we do in those situations? Do we back down? Do we stand our ground? Do we have the conversation? Do we sweep the issue under the rug? How do we love someone we really disagree with, or someone who disagrees with us?

This is a really hard thing, and that’s why I wanted to make sure to ask Jen about it. Jen walks us through how to talk to the people we love about things that are important, and what to do when we find that we’re not on the same page. Her advice was so helpful to me, and I know it will be for you too.
