Girls Night #118: Why We Need Strong Christian Women (and How to be One)

Today I'm talking with Lisa Bevere about what it actually means to be a strong Christian woman, and what that looks like played out in our lives.

IN THIS PODCAST EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN:

  • Why it’s important that we are encouraged to be strong as Christian women (and what that actually looks like)

  • What qualities or characteristics are present in a strong, Christian woman

  • How it’s possible to be strong while also being meek, and humble (and how those seemingly contradictory things work together)

  • What to do if we find ourselves in a situation where our strength is questioned, or pushed back against

  • Why Godmother figures or Christian mentors are so important for us to have as women

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!

Our guest today is my new friend Lisa Bevere. Now, if you’re not familiar with Lisa, let me just tell you, you are going to love her. When I think about what it looks like to be a strong, Christian woman, Lisa is one of the first women who comes to mind, and that’s exactly why I wanted to bring her on the show.

And that’s exactly what we’re going to be talking about today. We’re talking about why we need strong Christian women, and how to be one.

This topic is so important to me because as Christians and as women, we’re encouraged to be a lot of things, but “strong” isn’t always on that list. Or if it is, it seems like everyone has a different definition of what “strong” is supposed to look like. Have you ever experienced this?

And sometimes, we aren’t encouraged to be strong at all. We’re not encouraged to speak up, step up, or to bring our full selves to the table. We’re encouraged to be smaller, quieter, to hold back. And I think when we do this, the world is missing out on SO MUCH. And that’s why I’m so happy to have Lisa here with us today.

Today we’re going to talk about what it actually means to be a strong Christian woman, and what that looks like played out in our lives. We’re going to talk about what to do when we meet resistance — people who think we should bring less of ourselves to the table, not more, and that’s seriously just the beginning. Lisa shares so much wisdom with us in this episode, and I cannot wait for you to hear from her!
